Communication in Policing

There has never been a more challenging time for police officers and communication plays a vital role in our successes and failures. What others hear, how it was said, and so much more can change your message completely. Interacting with the public on scenes, during investigations, or speaking to groups is a crucial skill necessary for your success. This 4 hour course covers relating to generations in the workplace, active listening, communication in leadership and some presentation skills.


Field Training Officer (FTO)

The role of FTO is a critical function in all law enforcement agencies. Onboarding new officers, teaching standards of your agency, raising the bar and creating a high standards culture is essential for all FTOs. This 40-hour course will provide a certification showing proficiency in evaluation, documentation, counseling and training methodologies.

Interacting with Drivers who are Hard of Hearing
(TCOLE 7887)
This 4-hour course will cover the necessary elements of communicating with these individuals, some role play exercises and improve your ability to get necessary information to provide services for this part of your community. This course is taught by an instructor who knows sign language, done official interpretation and is a communications specialist for Round Rock Police Department.

Trauma Affected Veterans
(TCOLE 4067)
This 24-hour course will cover the elements of understanding the effects of trauma on military personnel and to prepare officers on how to respond effectively with individuals experiencing a veteran-related crisis. This course is instructed by a US Army Veteran and experienced police officer who can relate to this situations from both perspectives. You will not be disappointed in this training.
Law Enforcement Instructor
(TCOLE 1014)
The 40-hour basic instructor course is the beginning of your professional journey. Participants will learn and understand how adults learn, strategies for teaching, development of lesson plans, presentation skills and walk away with a core understanding of content development and delivery. Participants will be evaluated on their delivery methods and teaching style on two different presentations. Share your knowledge and experience with your peers and fellow officers.
